ANTONELLO'S HAT
mixed media installation
Sprovieri Art Gallery, London 2001

Collage made of a punch holed image, confetti, text and paper cut outs on the gallery wall.
The text is a poem I wrote by using just the letters composing the name Antonello da Messina, a composition in form of acrostic that hides the name of the painter and referres to the enigma of his self-portray. The red forms are taken from art history, from De Chirico paintings to Calder mobiles and evoke the form of Antonello's hat, like if it was flying in an imaginative trip and never landing. It is a declaration of poetic: in my work a sense of transience and mobility is the mean to create ever new poetic spaces of fredom and meaning.
